The huge attraction of Marrakech is that you have the opportunity to enter a totally different world to that which can be found in Europe and yet with remarkably short flights. The list below was correct in March 2012, but will inevitably suffer changes from time to time. One of the best websites we have found for booking flights is www.skyscanner.net
British Airways have now started flying from Gatwick to Marrakech, other full service airlines with direct flights from the UK areBMI and Royal Air Maroc. When you are on one of Royal Air Maroc planes, the safety and food service is just as good as BA and their business class is actually better than BA’s Club Europe. It is a good idea to check whether your plane is direct or stops in Casablanca en route. Two hours in Casa is possibly less attractive than three in Paris or Madrid, the hubs of Air France’s low cost carrier Transavia and Iberia respectively.

There are currently only two full service European airlines with direct flights to Marrakech, although others will have services as far as Casablanca, where you can get connecting flights on Royal Air Maroc. It is worth checking out the various no frills airlines mentioned below as you may be able to use them for part of your trip by connecting at one of their hubs. It is worth noting, however, that Ryanair‘s “Frankfurt” airport needs half a day to transfer from the real one if you allow their recommended check-in period when you get there. In reality, this will really only work if there is a good connection on aRyanair flight into Frankfurt. Luggage allowances may also differ from the full service airlines but since we have a free daily laundry service to help you pack as lightly as possible, that shouldn’t be a problem!
The only direct flight from the US to Morocco is on Royal Air Maroc from New York. Whilst it may save a bit of time, you will still have to change in Casablanca and there are certainly more attractive places with better facilities to spend a few hours after a long flight. Iberia have their own flights or code shares from all over the US via either Madrid or Barcelona; like Iberia,TAP have a lot of destinations in North and South America and connect in Lisbon. BA do the same via Heathrow, (more comfortable if you are at the front of the plane, but 90 minutes longer from London to Marrakech). Other options worth exploring are Swiss via Geneva and occasionally Zurich; Lufthansa via Munich and Frankfurt (check which airport your connecting flight is from – Ryanair have a theoretical connection but their airport is very poorly connected to FRA) and Air France via Paris (once again, check that the connecting flight is from CDG). Several US airlines will operate similar routes with connecting flights on a code share but be sure that you can book your luggage through to Marrakech, otherwise you might miss your connection.
